A variety of real world conditions that patient encounter in their daily lives
BRH’s patients have views and access to a newly renovated courtyard that extends physical therapy outside. The courtyard’s therapeutic landscape is designed to integrate the imagery and incorporate a variety of real-world conditions that patients encounter in their daily lives upon discharge: street curbs, outdoor ramps, handrails, and various walking surfaces incorporating peastone, concrete, brick pavers, textured concrete, and cobblestones. Also within the courtyard are gates and latches, mailboxes, cutting-garden planters, and flower-potting stations complete with water. Outdoor sports are offered including a secure mini-golf course and basketball hoop zone. Shade structures as well as the seating area allow for outdoor use throughout the year.
