Multi-phased project leads to independent and supportive senior living community

Sophia Snow Place combines 36 resident rooms of a Level IV Rest Home with 66 affordable Independent Living apartments for the elderly. A tight site required a two phase project: first, an addition to the existing Rest Home large enough to relocate residents, and second, demolition of the old Rest Home and construction of the remainder of the building. Maintaining access and code-compliant accommodations at all times was a key consideration.

The Independent Living apartments are one bedroom, but feature a unique layout where a den can double up as a guest room if necessary. Two front doors separate the traffic of the two occupancies, but are served by a single administrative desk.
