A community center for the town of Canaan, including a YMCA for all ages

Geer Village is a mixed occupancy retirement community that shares a large rural site with other care facilities of the Geer Corporation. The core program consists of 33 Independent Living apartments, 59 Assisted Living apartments, and a Memory Care Unit accommodating 30 residents in single and shared apartments, all supported by a range of lounges, libraries, participation kitchens, and activity rooms.

Thanks to the visionary leadership of an exceptional client, Geer created partnerships that attracted numerous amenities not often found in senior living environments, such as a local cable TV broadcast studio, a bistro concession, the local branch of the YMCA with pool and fitness center, and major public assembly rooms. The intent was to make Geer Village the town of Canaan community center, where elders are an integral part of community life.
