Urgent care suites for community outreach
The Highland Commons Urgent Care Suite was developed as a new model to deliver primary care to surrounding communities. The idea was to provide convenient, state-of-the-art primary care in a retail location, in this instance, a shopping mall, that would be convenient for patients and less expensive to operate.
LWDA helped the Emerson ED staff develop an urgent care suite prototype that could be replicated in other communities surrounding Emerson’s main campus in Concord. The final program was based on a clinical core of five exam rooms, a treatment room, a small physician practice area, and Imaging support.
Exam Rooms are accessed from a perimeter public corridor to maintain patient privacy. A second door to the Exam Room allows doctors and staff to access the rooms from the inner side, to keep the clinical core small and efficient.
