Modernizing the entry sequence
Sited along the hillside rolling terrain in Westborough, the office park was developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The buildings are classic brick low rises with strip windows. Building entrances are typical for this period, tucked in a recessed niche with raised entry floors several steps above grade. The design challenge was to update the entry sequences for accessibility, create prominent entrances, and provide outdoor seating areas. LWDA designed new stair systems and ramps with stone walls, granite steps, stainless steel handrails, and plantings to enliven the entry sequences for visitors and employees. The designs provide universal accessibility and increase visual prominence of each building's front door.
