Boston Medical Center Cogeneration Power Plant

Boston Medical Center

Campus scale co-generation planning

The BMC Cogeneration facility was conceived as a replacement BMC's current steam and chilled water plant.  The heart of the new facility is an innovative electric generation turbine whose exhaust would be used to generate steam for the hospital. The facility would also connect the current heliport to the Menino Pavilion through dedicated elevators in the Cogen and a new sky bridge over Albany Street.  The Cogen would also house the campus's main electrical service and its facilities department.  The structure was designed to sensitively fit into its urban context.
